In Klaipėda, in 2026, will be opened a modernised, two - storey infectious diseases wing of Klaipėda University Hospital. The annex will be equipped with infectious diseases and radiology wards, that meet the new requirements. It will include the separation of the elective hospitalisation ward, comfortable layout and furnishing of staff working and rest rooms, construction of surrounding galleries to manage patient flows, installation of additional lifts, preparation of covered premises for ambulance access, modernisation of the patient admissions ward by installing isolation wards, and other necessary infrastructure and equipment.
The new infectious diseases ward will include a CT scanner, X-ray, ultrasound, anaesthesia, haemodialysis machines, long-term electrocardiogram recording and other medical equipment necessary for the diagnosis and effective treatment of infectious and related diseases.
The project is funded under the Recovery and Resilience Plan "Next Generation Lithuania" from the EU's NextGenerationEU Facility.
